How to scheduleTown of Watertown Ambulance Service is excited to share our knowledge and experiences with students and those interested in doing ride-a-longs (i.e. BOCES students or community members interested in joing EMS). Start by filling out the adjacent form, then our Executive Director - Scott Lennox - will reach out for final scheduling based on agency availability.
What to bring/wear & when arrivingDon't overwhelm yourself! Remember to be prepared.
Wear clothes & shoes that are comfortable, it is recommended to wear: black/gray pants, a black/blank/student shirt, black shoes/boots. Bring easy items to fill time between calls, in EMS we go when called and do have time throughout the day at the station (ex. class work, book(s), tablet/laptop. If you are going to be riding for a whole shift it is recommended to bring lunch or money to buy lunch. When arriving, please park on the front side of the building (when available) or behind the building in our larger parking space. Please come to the front door to enter. What to expect at the station/on callsThe nature of EMS is always unpredictable, TWAS covers 911 calls (Emergencies) and Interfacility Transfers (IFT's). Our primary focus is 911 calls and we respond to those as we are dispatched, some days are constantly busy, some days are sparse. When TWAS has the ability to crews take IFT's, for many EMT/AEMT classes, IFT's only count once. When a student/ride-a-long is present, we offer them to ride on all calls/IFT's.
