Agency HisotryThe Town of Watertown Ambulance (TWAS) is a Not-For-Profit Ambulance Agency compromised of Volunteer and Paid Staff. Originally the Ambulance was part of the Town of Watertown Fire Department; the agency split from the Fire Department in 2007 and formed the Town of Watertown Ambulance Service Inc.. After an agreement with the Fire Dept. and BOCES, the Ambulance moved into the former Fire Station on Rt3.
Operations were held out of there until 2012 when a building was rented on Rt 11 from FX Caprara. Station 1 became our primary station with extra rigs stored at the Rt 3 location (station 2) and rotated as needed. Primary operations were held from Rt 11 with occasional staffing at Station 2. During the summer of 2019 we moved operations to a permanent location on Dry Hill Rd. After a few modifications and some new walls, bunk rooms and storage rooms, we have a Squad Building that meets all the needs we had been looking for. |
